KIRKUS REVIEW

Companion volume to the successful Fishing Secrets of the Experts and following the same pattern of selection of the men best qualified in the particular area on the score of both experience and writing ability. The result is an excellent and very readable collection of how-to pieces, with regional flavor, scientific background and a sense of story. The contributors range from amateurs virtually ranking as professionals; but with outside jobs; - newspapermen predominating, teachers, dentists, even a RFD mail carrier, to retired experts who devote all available time to their specialties. And these specialties, too, cover a wide area:- foxes, rabbits, ducks and geese, quail, grouse, turkeys, crows, bear, deer, wild boars -- and bow and arrow hunting. In each field there are ""hunting secrets,"" but they may be summed up as knowing the habits of the particular game, the regions, the methods best adapted, the weapons and equipment, the ways to outsmart them, and the difference in seasons and regions. Fully illustrated with line cuts and numerous photographs. A specialist gift item- and a good one.
