A good lusty tale of the Scotch-Protestant Murrays in Catholic Ireland, from the 17th century to the close of the World War. Ulster and Orangeman, Protestant and Catholic, England's wily policies, all made vivid while the Protestant Murrays go colorfully down to poverty and oblivion and the Catholic Santells, colorlessly and quietly come up into wealth and power. Good entertainment, readable for all its political background, a novel which men will like for its touch of swashbuckling gallantry.
