STILL THE BIBLE SPEAKS

By

Publisher: Abingdon-Cokesbury

Professor Smart is one whose sermons and lectures are never dull. He is concerned to point up the relevancy of the Bible to the life of today. He feels that the multiplicity of books on this subject is an indication of a widespread uneasiness lest the Bible be ""the most widely circulated and the least read book of the day."" He has the gift of the trenchant phrase giving a new twist to an old idea. After dealing with the place of the Bible in modern culture and with certain misconceptions concerning the structure and purpose of the Book, Professor Smart dwells upon four central ideas of the Bible; God and His World God and His People, The Final Revelation, and The Final Triumph. While there is nothing novel about the subject or its treatment in this volume, this is a most readable book and Protestant preachers particularly will be well repaid for the reading of it.
