THE CARIBBEAN: The Story Of Our Sea of Destiny

An excellent and comprehensive survey of the history of the Caribbean, but not a book for the average traveler, unless he demands a serious study of the place of the Caribbean in world history. At the moment, that problem is uppermost in many minds -- what is the next act in the Caribbean drama, a drama that opened with Columbus and that comes down to a watchful Britain, guarding the French colonial possessions from enemy aggression, and a watchful Pan-American group determined that no new European power shall step in. Put among the background books having to do with countries involved in the war (since there seems to lie the best market today).
