KIRKUS REVIEW

No specific and recognizable Central American country is used as the setting for a colorful story which departs from the routine adventure romance of the musical comedy genre. There is a thorough going exploration of Latin temperament and emotions, of the ""beautiful excitement"" of revolution, of a country debauched by dictatorial rule, of characters as personalities, rather than stock figures. A romance involving a once famous dancer, one of her pupils, and a too adventurous journalist. Lots of flavor of the tropics, for those who like it.
