KIRKUS REVIEW

The author has told the story of our Navy through the biographies of her fighting ships, from the Constitution to the Lexington. A good way to learn naval history, as he goes chronologically through the wars, and traces development in ship construction, in changes of strategy, in the failures as well as the successes. There is no attempt to personalize the stories by individual adventure.
