SHRUBS FOR MILDER COUNTIES

The ""counties"" of the title are the southernmost counties of England, and parts of Wales and Scotland -- and for comparable weather conditions, particularly in the maritime states, the data on shrubs- and some trees- might be of value. Chiefly, however, this will interest specialists in the field, rather than the individual home owner, as a contribution to a wider knowledge of some of the developments in the famous gardens of England under adverse conditions of weather, and exposure, as well as some of the things that are being done in public highway and community housing planting. There are some valuable planting lists- valuable as to species and performance rather than conditions of use. There are special chapters on such topics as acacias, camellias, magnolias, azaleas, rhododendrons, etc. Very limited in appeal.
