PANORAMA OF RURAL ENGLAND

Distinguished authorities have written of the subjectsclosest to their hearts to make this a literary and nostalgicsurvey of the rural England that was before the bombings --and that survives in part today. English country houses, villages, towns, ports and harbors, gardens and inns --glowing text and appealing pictures -- reproductions ofetchings, engravings, paintings. Anyone who knows and lovesrural England will find it good reading -- and fascinating asa picture book (though -- to be captious, perhaps --theimpression of the reproductions is that the black plate hasbeen omitted, and the edges are dulled, the colors muted; theetchings and engravings have come out better). Definitely abook that is designed to preserve much that has passed.
