NOBODY LIVES FOREVER

Another hot, holding story of the underworld and its inevitable penalties as Jim Farrar, assured ladycharmer and known as the ""big fellow"", returns to Los Angeles and falls in with a scheme to milk a wealthy widow, Gladys Halvorsen, and to split the take with Doo Bright, whose idea it is, and others in the gang. Gladys, shy, naive, but attractive falls in love with Jim and he ends up by marrying her and decides to play straight. Except for occasional lapses with Tony, his redhead, he behaves decently, refuses to cut in the gang, is shaken down by Doc, and is forced to kill him. He beats it to Mexico -- without counting on Gladys who insists on sticking with him, and in the end, to save her, loses his life. Ably planned, high paced story of crime and redemption.
