KARATE: The Energy Connection by W. Scott Russell

This has the quiet, I'm totally in control and you can be too if you read this tone that the recent spate of ""blissed-out"" books share, but this man is blissed out on karate. The first half deals with the good things the Oriental martial arts have done for him and for others, the second with what they can do for his reader--including, believe it or not, improve his sex life. He incorporates a country-by-country history of karate and defines all the terms (chi, kata, and ki) that tend to mystify outsiders, all the while discoursing on harnessing stress, building self-esteem, and losing weight. There are hundreds of books on this subject, and this is more promotional in tone than some, but probably more accurate than others.
