This is one of the best books the Robinsons have done. The previous books (Animals of the Tar Pits etc.), sometimes strayed from the simple, straightforwardness such material demands for younger readers; or the pictures, stunning as they were, were too big for small expectations. Now they have brought their material into familiar range and made their pictures of the activities of the animals at the zoo within easy compass. Two children spend the day at the zoo, see their friends among the animals, and look eagerly for new friends. A good animal book, told in friendly fashion. The vocabulary is a bit beyond beginning readers, but it is excellent read aloud material.
