PRAIRIE DOG TOWN by

PRAIRIE DOG TOWN

By

Publisher: Dodd, Mead

Fits in with other text and photograph nature books, though this is straight fact without any feel of story built up around the prairie dog characters. No particular distinction in style or manner (Margaret Raymond tends to talk down a bit when she writes for younger children; her metier is evidently the teen age for which she writes very well). I don't like the shift from present tense to past and back to present. However, there is very little available nature material about the desert life and a prairie dog book should have good market as supplementary nature reader in the desert districts. Sound information on all details of life and habits, of friends and enemies.
