KIRKUS REVIEW

A rumpot of a house dick is recalled to real detective work when his ex-wife comes to him to find their kidnapped son. Max Thursday plays rough as the search takes him into San Diego's lower reaches, a hunt for stolen pearls, a hardened gang. A goodly harvest of bodies, the boy safe and Max ready for reclamation, this embodies slaughter-house sadism.
