HARVEST OF THE SEA

By

Pub Date: Sept. 21st, 1955
Publisher: Morrow

The main kinds of sea and lake fish found in our principal bodies of water-the Great Lakes and the coastal waters- and how they are caught commercially, are clearly outlined by a knowledgeable writer about the sea and sea life. A first chapter gives general facts about physiology, habits and categories, 'pelagic"" are surface feeding fish, ""anadromous"" are deep feeding, etc. How different types of nets and boats function in accordance with location and the kinds of fish they have to catch are then described in reference to our main fishing grounds, - the Grand Banks, the Gulf Coasts, Pacific Coast and so forth. Accurately illustrated by the author and recommended as a dramatically presented introduction to commercial fishing and fisheries.
