HERALDRY: The Story of Armorial Bearings

Sure to be welcomed at this age level, where the concern with group signs and symbols is mixed with an admiration for things medieval, is a simple book on heraldry that will go well next to three previous titles from this author/illustrator (Chivalry and the Mailed Knight, The Crusaders and Knights and Castles and Feudal Life). Tracing the history, listing the laws and explaining the terminology, Mr. Buehr has kept his discussion clear and his illustrations big. A chapter of particular interest is the one that describes the ways in which clubs and graduating classes can design their own arms.
