NERVOUSNESS, INDIGESTION AND PAIN by Walter C. Alvarez

NERVOUSNESS, INDIGESTION AND PAIN

The first ""popular edition"" of a book which appeared originally in 1943, this is directed towards doctors who would know more about their patients, and patients who would know more about themselves. Dr. Alvarez, a professor and practitioner at the Mayo Clinic, is a diagnostician of wide vision, more concerned with people than diseases, and more alert to personal and temperamental indications than laboratory findings. His analysis here, which is not as limited as the title might indicate, covers many types of physical illness and psychosomatic factors, the part played by fears, sensitivities, idiosyncrasies, etc... By no means a palliative, but intelligent, professional advice on many of the manifestations of chronic and organic illness.
