A shot in the arm for a series which was undeniably flagging is given by the launching of a pet project, a breeding farm, with two famous horses as sires, -- the beloved Black, which Abu Ishak has left to Alec Ramsay, and Satan, son of the champion. At the start of the story, Satan wins the race that makes him holder of the Triple Crown. Alec, still mourning the Black, plans with his friend the trainer to start the breeding farm, when news comes of his inheritance. From here on the story complicates itself with more racing, a swamp fever scare, the reuniting of the Black and Alec, and the final decision to quit racing and launch the farm project.. No doubt from this will stem more tales.
