POEMS OUT OF A HAT

This is well titled. It contains an omnium gatherum of casual and occasional verse, thrown off by a writer, who scarcely seems to make any pretense at being a real poet. They are so mediocre and of so little importance or interest that one cannot suppose they will have any market except among the writer's personal friends. The most that can be said of them is that they are offered without effrontery, which is to a certain extent disarming.
