NO ROAD BACK

An interesting way of introducing to the American public the poetry of the anti-Nazi German writers, who has recorded -- in his writings -- the passion and anger and depths and heights of experience and thought and feeling in the years of tortue and imprisonment and escape from 1937 on. The first part of the book is the Out of Midnight"", written episodically as a ""love letter"" -- some of it bord on narrative verse, most of it emotional, personal, individualistic, symbolic. The ance of the book are shorter philosophical and allegorical poems. German text on one side -- English translation on the other.
