FREDDY GOES TO FLORIDA

To those who first met Freddy and the other animals of the Bean farm, this reissue of 'To and Again under a new title may be a bit disturbing. To and Again was such a beguiling title for adults that we forget that perhaps it wasn't definitive enough for children. Anyhow, for my money, this is still the most hilarious Freddy story of them all. The pig, now famous, and some of his friends from the Bean farm decided to migrate to Florida for the winter. A gay caravan spirit accompanies their trip, and they upset the plans of unscrupulous humans not once but many times. The author has a gift of noninterference in the plans of Freddy and his friends. His solemn asides to the reader as one human onlooker to another serve to heighten the solemn possibility of everything that happens. Long life to Freddy and his friends! This may start a new group, for after all those who read the original To and Again must have grown up by now.
