THE GOINGS ON AT LITTLE WISHFUL

This may be a fire engine in Edward Sorel's book- but I was brought up to call this a hook and ladder. Be that as it may- the nonsense tale is about the competition and rivalry between two towns, Big Booster and Little Wishful, and how the little town got caught in its efforts to outdo the bigger town. Here's a book to give to the Town Planning Commission instead of to their children. They might like it better from the dual significance of the text to the ultrasophistication of the cartoon--like pictures, backgrounded by orange and watermelon pink.
