Report repeated from the July 1st, 1958 bulletin, as follows, when scheduled for fall publication on the Ballantine list: ""Gibraltar from 1939 to 1941 provides the dramatic background of this novel of war, love and intrigue. A varied cast from Gibraltar's Governor through the officers and men of the Royal Navy to the native Gibraltarians enact a plot centering around the romance of Lt. Commander Evers and Grace Barbarossa, both unhappily married, and the efforts of Governor General Fortin to preserve the safety and military strength of Gibraltar. But in spite of the variety of characters, plots and subplots of the novel, it is the non-fictional elements of the story-- the sea battles, the intricacies of colonial government, the preparation for the North African invasion-- which capture and hold the reader's attention and imagination.
