TALES OF THE ALHAMBRA

The romantic tales set around the great Moorish palace in Granada hold definite appeal for younger readers, but we question the use of an adaptation at this age level. Why not wait for the later teens- and give them the original? However, for those who will accept second best, this is a good recapturing of the mood and color of the Irving stories, and Stephane's lovely muted colored illustrations reflect the glamorous background of their setting.
