THE SURPRISE MYSTERY

A better than usual mystery story in which two boys and a girl who think they are helping to solve the mystery of a jewel robbery, unwittingly bring back good fortune to a fine but much mailgaed woman in the town, whose life has been shadowed by the tragedy of an insane brother. Some people will object to an insane person in a children's book but this case is handled realistically and sympathetically, and the children's reactions are normal. The characterisations are good and the story moves rapidly with suspense and humor. Will probably appeal to some children over 12.
