TWO BOTTLES OF RELISH

A collection of strange stories of fantastic happenings, told with an air of plausibility, to which the contributors add prestige -- Dunsany, Chekhov, Cloete, Frances Elsenberg, among others. Some may find them too strange -- for the accent here is more grim and serious, than light and entertaining. There is gruesome murder, sheer imagination, and utter impossibility that does not carry the distinguishing mark of Stern's THE MOONLIGHT TRAVELER (Doubleday Doran, P. 109, 3/143 bulletin) with which it may be compared. A book for pick-up reading rather than single session devouring.
