STORY NO. 2

Story Magazine makes a policy of ""discovering"" young writers. This is a collection of short stories published in the year past, most of them with the common denominator of frustration in human relations, hallmark of this literary age. The total impact is depressing. A crescendo of despair is reached in Honeymoon by Simon Wincelberg, and then in the study of schizophrenia called I am Eager by Gerald Wexler. Perhaps less desperate is a mellow piece on family life called Suffer the Little Children by Whit Burnett, and a tender yarn about age and youth by August Derleth, The Telescope Short story students will need this as one facet of today's writings.
