KIRKUS REVIEW

Flashback -- in the hard-boiled style of They Shoot Horses, Don't They? and The Thin Man -- but with more of a psychological build-up in the story of the newspaper man who didn't know whether he had killed his wife or not. Surprise ending, with an adroitly built-up climax. Good reading for those who can take it. But don't pass it out to your conservatives.
