In subject matter, this suggests Robert Tristram Coffin; in technique there is little resemblance. External narrative poetry in the traditional iambic pentameter:- the first half deals with local activities, the last half with village characters, with occasional ballads and old wives' tales and legends. The author's sense of rhythm is better than his sense of the poetic.
