KIRKUS REVIEW

Whether or not you will find that this is really ""social history of the United States"" or just peripheral--here come the brides and grooms of the Blue Room et al. working backwards from Pat and Luci: matchmaking Dolley Madison and Mrs. Monroe's sisters: Andrew Jackson's clan (one had the only R.C. service performed here); the daughters of Grant and ""T.R."" Roosevelt and Wilson; Grover Cleveland, the presidential ""first""; etc. The authors seem to have gone to some pains to verify all this even if they present it with no particular style--who officiated, who attended when the cherry blossoms turned to orange.
