A compilation of British and American terms and phrases that relate to the 20th century stage and ballet, this offers an often fascinating record of technical and colloquial slang and speech pertaining to the entertainment field. Alphabetical in arrangement, this glossary does not claim to be completely comprehensive but its range is nevertheless great, from famous theaters and personages and on to the terms endemic to the theater, and its definitions include examples of how the word or phrase is or was used and how it gained currency in the theater.
