COMPLETE POEMS OF WILFRED OWEN

The complete poems of Wilfred Owen, an outstanding first World War poet, have been gathered together and attractively presented by New Directions, along with a sympathetic and illuminating preface by Edmund Blunden. One of that remarkable group of English war poets- Sassoon, Sitwell, Rupert Brooke come preeminently to mind, Owen ranks with these. His subject, except for a few early love poems, was War- its horror and pity, and into these overwhelmingly anti-war poems he poured all the intensity of a gifted life which was brought to an untimely and just before the armistice. Not the least interesting part of this little book are his letters home, quoted by Blunden, which are brilliant and very moving. A republication which will be welcome to all poetry lovers.
