KIRKUS REVIEW

Plenty of gore in this story of men taking the law into their own hands when fights over water rights in Wyoming narrow down to a question of survival. Cress Benton gambles everything he owns on his conviction that the law must not be broken, but that there is another way to pay off the highbinders, to benefit the community, and to get the water. He loses his friends -- he adds to his enemies -- before he proves his point, but the loss of his girl signifies little when he finds quick compensation in a boy meets girl romance of the west. Relatively modern in period.
