The Case Book of a Psychiatrist this without any particular psychiatric affiliations or idiom ranges over his experiences with people through the years with humor and warm interest. Dr. Fisher, well in his eighties today, started out as a speculator in real estate, then became a veterinary, and finally- prodded by the girl he was to marry- studied psychiatry (under Freud) and became the superintendent of the Los Angeles Psychopathic Hospital. He discusses here, in human terms and incident, some of the allied aspects and principal breakdowns; heredity and environment; neurotics and psychotics; the power of suggestion; hysteria; manic depressives, schizophrenics, paranoids; psychosomatic disorders; the organic and the functional; etc. and their therapy. Variations of human behavior, in accessible rather than oblique terms, for a general and not too professional reading audience.
