Here is a book designed to make listeners better able to evaluate music, through sounder background and criteria for appreciation. They take up style, interpretation, conducting, virtuosos of various instruments, musical forms (orchestral music, chamber music, organ music, opera). Each point is illustrated from actual procedure and experience. Somewhat pedagogical in handling; better for schools than general reading.
