DR. ANGER'S ISLAND

The threatening phone call Kelly McCloy and his family receive before leaving for their summer vacation on an island in lake Huron is the overture to a cerebral mystery that takes Kelly and his friend Biff through countless clues before its solution. Kelly's father has a job in this strange desorted place. He is to recover the literary work of the hermit post-laureate Dr. Anger, and obviously someone is out to inject a monkey wrench. The boys become involved in searching the waters around the island, in uncovering information on the historic underground railroad and in prowling through the halls of Dr. Anger's forbidding castle. What is most fascinating about the hunt is the collection of clues tucked away in a decaying volume of Shakespeare. As the boys put the Bard to work for them, readers may be encouraged to look more closely into the works of Shakespeare, though they will be absorbed primarily in helping Kelly and Biff piece the puzzle together.
