It's good reading -- and the first biography of Lenin I have read that makes him a living, breathing figure, warmly human in spite of his intellectual emotionalism. Dr. White knows his background; he has spent a good deal of time in Russia, under the new regime, has written several interesting and revealing books on the subject of applied communism, and the effects on the people, en masse, and individually. He has an objective approach to his subject, and an easy, pleasant, informal style. This is the ideal book for anyone who wants a quick picture of the man, rather than a searching analysis of his theories.
