THE CHECKERED FLAG

The Checkered Flag combines the excitement of auto racing in the thirties with a feeling for the Depression conditions when three ambitious young teen-agers build a racing team and a business in the local gas station and garage which they run for, and then purchase from, the widow of its owner, who was killed in a driving race. The winning combination of driver, car and mechanic is achieved through effort, practice, mechanical skill and the enthusiasm which sparks success. W.C. Gault has written another good book for his car and racing fans.
