Perhaps there are some that will like it. It seems to me to be one of these books that need not have been written. The significance of the rebellion against the draft in Oklahoma seems of little moment today -- and is actually a minor incident --though a permeating factor -- in the story of a share cropper, who wanted to be a good farmer and a good husband, and of the forces that combined against him. I've no quarrel with the theme, but it seems to me the minutia of details of the physical processes of life -- human and animal -- add nothing to the essential vitality of the book.
