A well-worked out story of the inner chaos of four people as their past knowledge, secrets and actions catch up with them. Jessica has feared the strain of insanity in her husband's family and deliberately has a son by Corey, bringing him up as Nathaniel's; Larry, the boy, learns the truth, and resents it, when he finds himself in Corey's college class; Nathaniel, the husband, finds out the truth, and goes to Larry to clear up the situation, but makes the last gesture without disclosing the truth, when he sees and hears Larry and Corey together. Good manipulation of problem dictating the behaviour of those involved. Intelligent reading.
