EROTIC POETRY

The Lyrics, Ballads, Idyls and Epics of Love- Classical to Contemporary"" have been collected here in one voluminous (there are close to 500 poems) book with in introduction by Spender and a lively, literate preface by the editor which should ilence any carping comstockery. Mr. Cole defines his terms and his aims- to be catholic not indiscriminate, to vary from bawdy humor to passionate pleasure, and to include a great deal which is unfamiliar (and anonymous) along with the better known ove poetry of some 200 poets, of all countries and centuries. Honni soit qui mal ense.
