HORNED SNAKE MEDICINE

The story of Ocana, who lived with his people in one of the mound villages built by his people when our Southern and Mid-western territories were still part of an ancient Indian culture. This particular story is set near what is now Moundsville, West Virginia, and tells of the theft of the sacred Horned Snake disk, the capture of Osana, and the recovery of the emblem, and war between the tribes. Authentic, vivid background, excellent regional material about primitive America-good library and school supplementary reading. The black and white drawings are uninspired, but adequate.
