WITHIN THE SOUND OF THESE WAVES by William H. Chickering

WITHIN THE SOUND OF THESE WAVES

By

Publisher: Harcourt, Brace

Picturesque, colorful, often lyrical and poetic, the author recounts the history of old Hawaii, by now almost legendary. Stories of the early kings, than the conflict of brown and white, with the coming of Cooke, whose men brought disease, and who was himself often intolerant of these pagan, childlike people. Later traders, pioneers, missionaries, until white man came to stay and to rule. Very much in tune with the tampo of the people and their land. Limited, I should think.
