PEARY

By

Publisher: Macmillan

A splendid biography, intimate, accurate and readable. Intended for the general reader, who will find it interesting as well as informative. It has the note of authority, both as to accuracy of facts and personal knowledge of the man. Boyhood, training, the first taste of the north, and the feel of it in his blood. Thirteen chapters tell of Peary's direct assaults upon the North Pole, of heart breaking defeats, of ultimate success, only -- apparently -- to have been beaten by Dr. Cook. Then the revelation of that gigantic hoax. Thoroughly worth while.
