A not wholly convincing inside story of the cure of alcoholism in a youth of 26 -- suggesting Asylum in potential market, without the boost that Seabrook's name gave. Personal account of the year spent in a sanitorium, the psychological aspects glibly handled, flashbacks showing the spoiled childhood, the sordid jags and continual intemperance as he grew older, and a day by day record of the life in the sanitorium. Contacts with doctors, nurses, fellow patients, sometimes a bit on the lurid side, finally the inner cure. His return to the world, and gradual emancipation from the institutionalized life which he had grown to like. Superficial and popular in handling, but readable.
