WILD ORPHAN BABIES: MAMMALS AND BIRDS: Caring for Them, Setting Them Free

Disclaiming in the preface any responsibility for readers stealing baby animals to raise as pets, Weber, a veterinarian who has turned his own three-and-a-half Florida acres into an Audubon sanctuary, has put together a direct, well written handbook for ""foster parents"" who will eventually set their charges free and who until now have been without an accessible source of ""practical and accurate"" information. On mammals, the guide covers everything from the first approach to an orphan formula, problems of gagging, biting, ticks, etc., and ""when not to help,"" and Weber making a special detail about birds, which he categorizes as altrucial (born helpless) and precocial (more independent). Like Dr. Spock, he seems to anticipate your every question.
