Funny, imaginative rhymes and verses with cabbages-to-kings variety of subJect matter- these will make pleasant read-aloud sessions. They perhaps suggest a little of Ruth Krauss and A. A. Milne, mixed together. Long poems and short poems ask f'rinstance -- ""Why do buses stop and go?"" or explain that ""Round or square/Or tall or flat,/ People love/ To wear a hat."" There are lots more too, all of which have been illustrated in black and yellow by Juliet Kepes whose light touch brushes the top of the humor.
