KIRKUS REVIEW

The rhyme names and the illustrations show over 30 kinds of floating craft, chanting and making visual the extended if of it all -- ""IF I had a skiff--A wherry A ferry/An Eskimo kayak An umiak--/A fishing smack..."" If the small boy shown had this fabulous fleet, ""The moon would come up and the stars would shine...I would be yours, And you would be mine."" If you had If I Had a Boat, what you would have is a cleverly illustrated valentine bound like a book.
