THE BOOK OF A THOUSAND TONGUES

The best evidence of the power and authenticity of the Bible as the world of God is the number of tongues into which loyal missionaries and converts have translated it. Now that these have passed the thousand mark it does seem a fitting time to tell this thrilling story to the world. The book is divided into sections; the explanation and real meaning of such an enterprise, the difficulties, obstacles and achievements. The significance and what lies ahead in the way of further translations, revisions and distribution. Lists and summaries, exhibits of the 1018 languages showing characters, giving a bit of the history of the races using each; forty-one special articles of various translations from the Aniwa to Yiddish and four meticulously arranged indices comprise the book which has been published for the American Bible Society. The General Secretary has done an excellent job as Editor. A valuable book for libraries, missionary societies and all the foreign mission minded (of which there are always more during Lent while mission study classes fire their imaginations.)
