This is the story of the author's father, Rabbi of Zanesville, known locally as ""the best Christian in town"". In his family, and in town affairs, the Rabbi's interests were wide, as was his influence; if he seemed of ten gullible, his meddling was for the purpose of peace. He knew the power of a soft answer; he used the strength of gentleness, and his son writes of him with affection and appreciation. There are his adjustments to the problems of three growing boys, to the questions his Synagogue forced on him, to many personal problems he was asked to solve.
