DUFF -- The Story of a Bea

A bear's-eye view of life in the wilds -- unusual, although there is more human interest value here than natural science. Duff, a black bear of generally pleasant di position matures from a green yearling to the biggest bear in the woods. Between cub colossus, however, Duff has adventures -- evading traps and Web Doone, a hunter who hat bears, acquiring a mate with the wanderlust, fighting with other big bears, and hibering for the long winter sleeps. Although each bear is named, the reader is not bother by the personification element, and Duff's equable nature seems wholly credible.
